The third issue of JTSW in 2026 brings together four contributions that examine how technological transformation, environmental pressures, and community engagement are reshaping tourism development and well-being. The first article reviews the growing role of emerging technologies in smart tourism events, highlighting their potential to enhance visitor experiences, accessibility, sustainability, and real-time decision-making, while also identifying important conceptual and ethical challenges. The second contribution addresses the transition towards Industry 5.0 in tourism, emphasizing the need to combine technological innovation with human-centred service, organizational learning, and adaptability. The third study demonstrates the value of integrating economic, social, and mobility data to better understand how environmental crises influence tourist behaviour and destination resilience. Finally, the fourth contribution examines the barriers that may limit local participation in tourism-related leisure activities and highlights the relevance of perceptions, accessibility, and social interaction for well-being and community inclusion. Together, these studies underline the importance of more integrated approaches to tourism development that connect digital innovation, environmental resilience, inclusive participation, and human well-being.
